Much to the delight of the staff at Cuneiform Records, Cuneifest's Jazz Day will take place at An Die Musik – named after Austrian composer Franz Schubert’s hymn “To Music” – the best-sounding, intimate performance space for jazz and classical music in the greater Washington DC and Baltimore regions. Located in the heart of Baltimore on historic North Charles Street, steps from Baltimore’s Washington Monument and Benjamin Latrobe’s Basilica and a mile north of the Inner Harbor, An Die Musik occupies a restored brick townhouse. Its first floor houses an art gallery/bar/sitting room and a jazz-and-classical CD store, while its second floor houses a tiny second bar and the performance space: an elegant, intimate room with excellent acoustics, a wooden stage with grand piano for the performers, and luxe upholstered chairs for the audience. An Die Musik has featured hundreds of shows by internationally musicians, including numerous ECM artists and such notable jazz musicians as Tim Berne, Sonny Fortune, Bill Frisell, Myra Melford, Eddie Palmieri, Wadada Leo Smith, Ralph Towner, Matt Wilson, and many more.
